Volume 30 Issue 2 July 2004

Dear Friends,

Greetings! Thank you so very much for your prayers and support for the children in our care and for the training we give. Jesus said “Whenever you did this to one of the least important of these brothers of mine, you did it for me! ( Matt.25:40)

TRAINING AND RESOURCES TEAM

The above photo shows 50 Govt. Day Care workers in San Miguel town after their training. Some made commitments to Christ. Its reported they are keenly using their new teaching skills The next photo shows a happy girls’ group enjoying Bible Study at Hebron Children’s Camp. Our new but not new FX van is proving its worth, as the team (Rio, Amy and Marissa) move up and down Luzon Island taking training seminars with our new Life Changers Curriculum etc. At Dupax del Norte in Nueva Vizcaya, a young man came to fetch his wife home from the seminar. He said, “I’ve seen these visual aids before.” He then related how back in 1989, 2 ladies had a day’s hike into their town with all their baggage. They held a Bible Club near his home. He was 13 at the time and made a commitment to Jesus along with his brothers and sisters. Those 2 ladies were Ellen Rose Presentacion and America Acdal, our staff!

Upcoming seminars: July 31 - Olongapo, August?- Baguio, October – Mindoro Island
Our plan is that from such contacts will come students for further training at our HQ in future.

Rosario Orjalisa, our agent in Mindanao, reports that they had an AWESOME children’s camp. The presence of the Holy Spirit was wonderful. There was a time of prayer for reconciliation between parents and children. The kids in her cell group still remember it and said that was the best part of camp. They learned to forgive their fathers. Rosario also took training seminars in Surigao and Leyte, spoke at a kids camp of a local church in Butuan, and a Daily Vac.Bible Sch.

Hebron Children's Home

WHAT DOES A HOUSEPARENT DO?
5.00am.You have 25 children to get ready to leave for school at 7.00am! The Houseparent who was on duty last night goes out. Some older children are cooking the breakfast. Little ones have their shower first followed by the others. They put on school uniform, make their beds, shoes in a row, towels on the rail.. Take Bibles to the Dining area. Song, short Bible reading by a child, explanation, prayer. Food! Each table has about 6 children. One of them, an older one, distributes the food on the plates. Today it is rice, eggs and noodles. Quiet, happy, orderly children!! I’m impressed!

Then Randy (deaf boy) cries. Jeffrey, half his size has pushed in front of him to wash his plate! Chores. eg sweeping outside with stick broom, washing cooking pots, wiping tables At last its time for school! Houseparent Bhoy has 4 trips a day! 7.00am, 11.30 am, 1.00pm and 5.00pm

I interviewed the 4 houseparents individually and their answers were the same! They love their work with the children. Evelyn says she feels really blessed when the children from time to time hug her or say thank you for caring.Bhoy felt really encouraged one time when a boy opened up to him about his problems at home. He could see that he had earned the boy’s trust. Malou quietly enjoys all her work. Conching has been with the Home for 20 years and most enjoys the little girls. She prays with them and if she forgets, they come and remind her! She also misses the little ones from the past. Some are now 20 years old!

Please pray with us that God will provide sponsors for these 4 houseparents.

Melany (Social Worker) writes:
I would like to introduce you to 4 girls who have been admitted recently. They have no other relative who wanted or could help in any way. One girl, her father died in prison The mother is suffering a heart problem but has to wash clothes in order to make a living. A sister committed suicide. Two girls are sisters. They have been to 3 different orphanages Mother is a housemaid. They have never seen their father since he deserted them. One girl, her father died when she was 2 and she is always being left with step-father…and the neighbours.

We are praying for faithful people who would like to help these little girls to be given a chance to live a normal life.

Disablilities ranged from blind, humpback, club(L club (Lshaped feet),CP, polio, thelidomide and about 40 dea40 deaf. The New Zealand Embassy kindly helped financius financially, as did some disabled in New Zealand. themeThe theme was Love and Acceptance. We had EvanEEvan Clulee from New Zealand (wheelchair user, & Asst Asst Director of CMWDT) as speaker and Ptr EleazoEleazor for the deaf.

Henry off for a swim

Have you ever heard people say “You are an accident?” or “You are no good to anybody with a disability like that!” Disabled have heard that many times! But what does God think about you? Is He a big monster who goes around punishing people for their sins and making them disabled? No, He is a loving God who cares for us, loves us and accepts us JUST THE WAY WE ARE.

People commented that they really felt love and acceptance. Some shared some very sad stories. Some made decisions for Christ They all said they want to come back again and bring a friend!

Meet Henry (see photo) This was his 2nd camp. The 1st time he was aloof and didn’t want to be noticed. But this time he felt free and found new friends. He was born with his disability. His family is poor but he has learnt to endure. He is a helper in a restaurant, working in the kitchen..an amazingly cheerful person.. He is looking forward to next camp!

Sped (Special education) School has opened with 65 students! (34 are deaf)This is a jump from 46 last year and a squash for our building! Monica has made lot of rearrangements!

Welcome to Leslie dela Ganar, wheelchair user and a long time sponsored child with degree in Computer Science, as she joins us on the PCFFD staff

Hebron Christian College

In the last newsletter I mentioned our need for computers. Early last year I had contacted a group in Hong Kong which collects and sends out second hand ones.I ordered 12 . Suddenly last month, June, the week before school started, they arrived, free!! So, our computer room is set up. Great answer to prayer! We are looking for a second hand LX300 Epson printer to put in there. Do you know of any?

Make over for our old jeep!

For about 2 years we have been praying about our old local made XLT jeep. It was rescued from our 1997 fire..just!.. and the body was repaired. The Maintenance staff use it. The engine is fine but the body is terrible! Recently we found a man nearby who for a very reasonable price is now making a pick-up truck body. This will be of practical use for our men and also for working with the little back hoe. Please pray that the job will be good and that we can put in new seats and get it all painted.

Till next time! May God bless you too!!
Dianne & CBM Staff Philippines.
