Volume 30 Issue 1 February 2004
Dear Friends,

Greetings to you! A few weeks back my faithful 486 computer broke down, but in that same week we were given a few second hand computers! So, I decided to try a new look for our newsletter! Please give us your comments.(see back page) Here goes!

Phil. Christian Fellowship For The Disabled

Look at Julienne and Dianne enjoying the balloon relay in our SPED School Christmas Party! The other photo shows Carlos (deaf) about to shoot a goal in our recent SPED Sports Fest. Parents were delighted to see the deaf play basketball so well. A trophy was given by our special guest, Julie Ann Paulino (a San Rafael Counselor)

This week we had our first Elementary School Graduation for 2 deaf students, Melissa Cruz and Carlos Manaois. Thank you to dedicated staff ,parents and sponsors. It was also great to hear that Ed Salonga is taking studies to become a good interpreter for the deaf, a real need.

FUTURE ACTIVITIES:
PCFFD RETREAT April 23-24. We would really appreciate your prayer for this. Evan Clulee from New Zealand CFFD (also a wheel chair user) will be one of our speakers! After quite a search, we have found a new very suitable resort. We will be the first to use it!! We want to reach out to disabled in other towns, so that they will have a chance to enjoy a beautiful place, swim, get to know others with disabilities, and hear what God has done in their lives. May they too, come to know the wonderful love and hope and acceptance in Jesus Christ. We are expecting 100. It is free. If we don’t make it that way, many will not be able to come. Please pray for all the arrangements especially the transportation! With God nothing is impossible!

VOCATIONAL PROJECTS –Starting next June, we will offer Sewing and Computer training. Do you know of anyone with a singer treadle machine or an old computer they are not needing

Congratulations to CBM New Zealand-
40 years of children’s ministry!
Do you know that this ministry began from the question of a little 6 year old girl? That little girl was Joy McRae, who today is a missionary for children in a distant land. She said “Mummy, I want Jesus to come into my life. “ Mrs McRae did not know what to do. That question became a burden in Mrs McRae’s heart. At the time she did not realize that God would use that, to lead her and her husband, (later known as Uncle Charlie and Aunty Beryl McRae to many), to establish a mission for children, originally called Children’s Bible Crusade in 1963.

That ministry has now spread to other countries including the Philippines, so that today, millions of children are coming to a saving knowledge of Jesus, just like little Joy McRae. The McRaes imparted this vision and burden to Mr Bill and Mrs Jean Morley, who are at present, the International Directors.

Training and Resources

Thanks to your prayers over the last few newsletters, we now have a 1999 Toyota FX Van! Now, we can go up and down the country taking our new Life Changers Curriculum for children with our Basic Seminar, and see churches reaching out to children in their communites with the good news of Jesus.
(Photo shows Dianne, Rio and the previous owners on the day of delivery!) We have already started. We took a seminar with a group of 50 young people, which included a few overseas students.

Two young men from Uganda and Nepal told Rio they had never heard anything on children’s ministry! Last weekend we held a day seminar with a church out of Manila. In April we will be going up north to an ex- Bible College student’s church, (Marife Acueza) in Nueva Vizcaya province for a seminar with local churches. Then we have a seminar with Happy Family Overseas Ministries further north in Baguio City, and then its down to San Miguel, Bulacan for a seminar with DSWD Day Care workers. Please contact us if you would like a seminar for your church or group, or you would like us to speak at your children’s meeting. See back page.

PLEASE PRAY FOR:

  1. Transportation costs as we go up and down the country with seminars, puppet shows and other meetings.
  2. HEBRON CHILDREN’S CAMP April 19-22 here in our Headquarters. We are expecting 100 children between the ages of 7-13 from nearby churches and local areas. We want them to really enjoy all the activities on the program, the food, the fellowship with other children and especially that they might really want to live for Jesus! Our theme is “Bata, bata! Maglingkod ka sa Diyos!” (Child, be useful for God!) Please pray for our faithful counselors and that we can cover all their costs!

In Memorandum

We want to express our thanks giving to God for the lives of Mr and Mrs Eric & Dorothy Hartnell They were long time friends of Uncle Charlie and Aunty Beryl Mc Rae, our founding directors, and helped them establish CBM here in the Philippines. They have been long time sponsors of a number of staff, and very loyal prayer partners.
“Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord….they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow with them.”Rev14:13

A boy in the Home, wrote this to his sponsor:
"I am happy upon reading your letter and feeling the love of a father. My father is not so good to us when he was still alive. That’s why sometimes I long for a father’s love. I went to spend Christmas vacation with my family. My mother was happy for me because I have change a lot in my character. I really thank the Lord because He granted my wish seeing my family happy at Christmas. Glory to God for making me a good boy and happy. I am praying for you. I wish you God will be blessing you good health and happy family.."

Wonderful to see what God has done in just one boy!! Praise God for good staff too

Collecting soil last weekend to make a better playing area

URGENT PRAYER IS NEEDED for the Home repair. As we have mentioned, vertical cracks have appeared showing that the backfill was insufficient. The cement roof that was built, has to come down. We do already have a new green rib roofing over that.. We want to get the cement roof demolished in April and a ceiling put up, while most children are away having a vacation with family, relatives or others. The cost for the job is P300,000 (NZD8,370)

Hebron Christian College

Grade VI students presented a Muslim dance in our Musikahan.
We have 164 children in both Pre-School and Elem School coming in each day. We thank God for the 15 committed staff who really love their students. We also need more computers to teach the children to use. Old will do.

Other News

A GREAT THANKSGIVING!
In our last newsletter, we mentioned the need of P990,0009 (NZD33,000) to pay off the remaining amount owed on our 2nd block of staff family housing. Praise God, that has now been done! Remember we have a Guesthouse now for you to stay!

Our maintenance men have made a huge canal down the back of the property to contain all the water which flows down there in rainy season. We hope to make a BMX bike track down there eventually.

PLEASE PRAY FOR:
The last piece of driveway we need, to complete a road round the inside of the property before the rainy season in May. It will cost P58,000 (NZD1,620)
